Director of Digital Media Strategy [Immigration]

DESCRIPTION:
The Emerson Collective immigration team is seeking a digital strategist who can guide our efforts to incubate, launch and support a multi-year media initiative. This person will lead our efforts to engage our partners in a broad effort to inform key audiences, engage influencers, and impact existing discourse and action on immigration issues. Key efforts include developing and managing content creation, advancing our overall measurement and testing efforts, outreach to segments of the voting population, developing collaboration opportunities within our existing social networks, and cultivating new initiatives with our key stakeholders.
We are seeking someone who can guide our early-stage efforts to develop and test content and build out the overall engagement strategy. Individuals should have experience with digital initiatives that have far-reaching goals, including: consumer outreach, direct engagement with key influencers, and constructive collaboration with artists and media creators. We welcome individuals from diverse professional backgrounds, including (but not limited to): journalism, organizing, politics, design and creative arts, communications and marketing, and research.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- 8-10 years of experience in communication and content creation/curation and/or directing large scale digital media initiatives
- Deep experience crafting digital media strategies that incorporate organizing, owned, earned, and paid media tactics to deliver measurable impact for social change
- A successful track record recruiting, managing and empowering a diverse team of people to reach their professional development goals
- A commitment to data-driven program design and impact, and a strong affinity for experimentation and testing, including an understanding of diverse testing methods and benchmarks related to social impact
- Entrepreneurial spirit that consistently looks for novel ways to approach problems
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and ability to resolve complex and unfamiliar problems in a timely manner
- Experience managing funder, partner and political relationships and sharing best practices
- Demonstrated project and time management skills
- A roll-up-your-sleeves and ego-free approach to the work and mission of the organization is a must
- Demonstrated ability to harness feedback from multiple audiences (e.g., voters, consumers, key stakeholders and partners) for internal learning and development, and to communicate learnings to wider audiences
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee strategic campaign and program planning efforts to establish program goals, key performance indicators, and the operational plans, capacity and accountability measures needed to achieve those goals
- Cultivate a testing culture by approving experiments to test assumptions and figuring out the most effective way to achieve outcomes
- Make strategic data-driven decisions on where to invest resources, capacity and strategic programs informed by our unique capabilities and opportunities to make the greatest impact
- Build and manage the strategic allocation of program budgets
- Build partner relationships at the senior-most level that unlock opportunities for coordination that enables both innovation and the maximization of resources
- Accountable for managing efficient team processes and infrastructure for long-term campaign planning, rapid response and growth-minded scalability
- Identify and capitalize on external opportunities to drive thought leadership, earned media and dissemination of learnings and intellectual property throughout the progressive community
